Mother’s Day Calls for Creative and Thoughtful Dining Experiences. Don’t Worry… We’ve Got You!

Mother’s Day is Sunday and — whether you want to celebrate your mom, the mother of your children or grandchildren, a dear aunt, or a close friend — Nashville restaurants offer a range of unique and memorable dining options to help make the day extra special. Here are just a few of our food tour guides’ favorite local spots for a perfect Mother’s Day in Nashville.

Downtown Nashville favorite: The Southern Steak & Oyster

The Southern Steak & Oyster

Located in downtown Nashville, just south of Lower Broadway, this is one of our favorite Mother’s Day brunch spots. From shrimp and grits and seafood gumbo to baby back ribs and hot chicken salad, the menu is eclectic and the vibe is elevated casual.

Pro tip: Park for free for up to three hours in the Pinnacle Garage (with validation). And if you’re looking to extend your family gathering, stroll the area before or after your meal. Mom will love the view from the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge, and the fountain at Schermerhorn Symphony Center is perfect for family photos.

open kitchen with chefs at work at Nashville hot spot Butcher and Bee

East Nashville’s Butcher & Bee

Butcher & Bee

This farm-to-table Mediterranean gem is located in East Nashville and is open for both brunch and dinner. It offers à la carte dining (with favorites like bacon-wrapped dates, mushroom shawarma, and braised short ribs), but our foodies highly recommend the Chef’s Choice Experience.

If the weather forecast calls for sunshine, consider a reservation on the patio. And rain or shine, you’ll want to check out the restaurant’s creative cocktail menu.

Shabby chic dining room at Sadie's restaurant in Nashville

Sadie’s in Edge Hill, just steps from Nashville’s Music Row

Sadie’s

Located in the Edgehill neighborhood, just off Music Row, Sadie’s offers a Mother’s Day brunch like few others. From shrimp cocktail and lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry jam to Moroccan braised lamb shoulder and cheesecake, you are certain to leave satisfied (and wondering if you’ll ever be hungry again).

Before or after your meal, consider a visit to Belmont University, known for its stunning displays of tulips, which are typically in full bloom this time of year.

Silver plate with two barbecue brisket tacos from Edley's in Nashville

Edley’s BBQ in the Nashville’s 12th South neighborhood

Edley’s BBQ

One of Music City’s favorite barbecue restaurants — and a Nashville Scene “Best of Nashville” award winner four years in a row — Edley’s has multiple locations, but our restaurant experts recommend the 12South location for Mother’s Day.

The reason: After chowing down on Edley’s famous brisket tacos or pulled pork nachos, Mom will love a stroll up and down 12South. It’s filled with antique shops, nationally known retailers (like Vuori), and a variety of locally owned favorites (like White’s Mercantile and Reese Witherspoon’s Draper James).

Need a break from all that shopping? Grab a coffee at Frothy Monkey or an ice cream at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.

Cup of gumbo and a poboy from Franklin Tennessee's The White Alligator

Franklin, Tennessee’s The White Alligator

The White Alligator

Located in the historic Factory at Franklin, just a few miles south of Nashville, The White Alligator serves up some of the best Cajun/Creole cuisine around. Favorites include fried green tomatoes, fried shrimp and catfish, New Orleans-style po’boys and muffulettas, and—of course—beignets.

Bonus! The cocktail menu features Bananas Foster and praline martinis that are perfect for toasting Mom.
