Celebrating Women’s History Month in Nashville

March is Women’s History Month — a time to honor the vital role women play in our community, history, and economy.

From the women who helped secure the right to vote to the chefs, entrepreneurs, and creators shaping Nashville today, Music City has long been influenced by remarkable women.

Honoring Our Past

Nashville’s downtown community is honoring Women’s History Month with Suffrage Sundays, a free weekly event series held every Sunday in March at Church Street Park (600 Church St.).

The programming connects the city’s pivotal role in the women’s suffrage movement — especially as the place where Tennessee cast the decisive vote to ratify the 19th Amendment in 1920 — with contemporary arts, wellness, and storytelling.

Event Highlights

Sunday, March 8, 2026 (2 pm) — Yellow Rose Bud Vase Class
Create your own yellow-rose arrangement (a symbol of the suffrage movement) with Avery Liz Design Co. — perfect for celebrating International Women’s Day through art and community.

Sunday, March 15, 2026 — StrongHER Fitness Class
A wellness-focused session highlighting resilience, strength, and community.

Sunday, March 22, 2026 — Historical Retelling with David Ewing
Hear stories of the women suffragists who helped change American history, told in the very city where those events unfolded.

Sunday, March 29, 2026 — Song Suffragettes Performance
Enjoy a live performance from Song Suffragettes, Nashville’s all-female singer-songwriter collective known for showcasing rising women artists.

Alongside workshops and talks, the series blends music, creative experiences, storytelling, and wellness activities to reflect on both the legacy of the suffrage movement and the voices shaping our future.

All events are free and open to the public (weather permitting).
